  • no oil to motor

Wondering if someone can help me with 2003 OX200 that runs great but the oil reservior is not refilling from remote tank, followed line from tank to motor and see no filters or pumps, not sure where to go from here?

Pump is embedded in the back of the tank. Filter is inline and adjacent thereto.

With the key turned to the on position have someone activate the emergency transfer switch which will provide a ground to the pump. It should start running.

If so but no oil flows check the filter or the hose for a blockage.

If pumpa no runna check the pump separately. If no go replace the pump. If it runs when powered separately check the wire harness for positive power when the key is on and check the ground wire for a connection to ground when the switch is activated.

Pump is mounted in back side of the oil tank . Remove 10 mm bolt that holds down the tank , unplug harness and oil line . i would replace that filter back there if you never have . i clean my oil tank Out every couple years . Pump's do go bad in the saltwater , and have had problems with the plugs at the oil pump and the plug with the oil pump and oil lever sender on the tank . Apply 12 volt to pump and make sure she runs . and report back . Most common is the filter is plugged .

I back flush oil tank filter with a little shot of carb cleaner and catch / /inspect for debris in a white paper towel.

The pump, I had to replace both. When new, I gave pump a generous coat of LPS 3 corrosion inhibitor before installation into the plastic tank receptacle. It is a heavy waxy petroleum spray like Corrosion X or CRC Corrosion Blocker.

My old electric oil pumps, one died due to rust through of the steel electric motor housing, the other I inspected and while still working, the same rust through was imminent.
If its got teats or tires, you bound to have trouble with it....

          do some forum searches.
I have posted on precision blend so many times it makes my head hurt.

when the engine tank fails to fill what indicates are blinking on the tach?
that system will troubleshoot itself if you pay attention.

            No Oil

            Gentlemen,

Thanks for the responses. I spent all day yesterday getting to know the system and now understand my problem is probably the filter or pump on the 10+ year old tank. I do not have Yamaha instruments so (tach) so I only have the idiot lights. I never found any "emergency switch" with which to activate the pump. My next move will be to remove the tank and check out the condition of the pump and filter.

            Thanks again
