  • digital gauges

I have a 2005 50hp four stroke efi tiller. I have been having some water pump/cooling issues and have no gauges hooked to motor(boat came that way). i would like to be able to monitor the water temp/tach/oil press....ect. Do the newer style digital gauges work with a 2005 or do i need an analog water temp gauge? I thought this motor would have a buzzer but it doesn't go off even without water pumping. Not sure why. Maybe need a new temp sensor? Buzzer does sound when you turn the key on so i don't think the buzzer is broken.

if its a US market EFI you can use the digital package.
the buzzer should NOT sound at key on.
    something else is wrong.

rodbolt, you are correct the buzzer does not sound at key on(was thinking of my old merc which makes one beep at key on). Yes I assume its us market as it was originaly sold in MN. What Gauge would you recommend for me? Are they plug and play?

Liliepad, I had issues with it after I had a new one installed. The plastic housing that holds the metal cup on top of the impeller has one flat side to hold the metal cup in alignment with the discharge. When they installed new impeller the plastic housings flat side was no longer flat allowing the metal cup to spin and block the outlet. The shop didn't notice it. But I knew something was wrong fist time I ran it. All of this has been fixed now but I would just like to be able to monitor the temp better.

          me?
I would check that the buzzer was installed and working then go play.
technician induced failures cant be helped sometimes.

Make sure your horn is working and have some fun . Only time i would really say you need a water pressure gauge would be with a jack plate installed or some of the big motor's .
