    Hi guys!

for the US market HPDI Z200 it drops 2 cylinders at idle in neutral.
don't know about non US market stuff.

More than likely your friend may be confusing the Z200 HPDI with an OX66 model.

The OX66 will operate on less than all cylinders when the motor is in gear, below some certain engine RPM, to reduce fuel burn. Say for example when the motor is being used for *****ing.

As noted, the HPDI only operates on less than all cylinders when in neutral.

Cylinders two and three don't operate at all when the motor is in neutral. Cylinders five and six don't operate if the engine RPM is above 1400 when the motor is in neutral. Why anyone would be above 1400 RPM in neutral is a mystery to me, but there you have it.

So yes, there will be some reduced fuel burn with this HPDI feature, but given the small amount of time that the motor operates in neutral, it might not amount to much in the grand scheme of things.

An HPDI sold in the US or the rest of the world shares this same feature.

like I said, I have limited training in non us market stuff.
I can tell you a 250 OX66 in Venezuela has no O2 sensor.
