This is my first winter to store a 2003 Yamaha 40HP four stroke outboard. I've treated the gas with sta-bil and ran the engine for 10 to 15 minutes. Do I disconnect the gas line and run the engine out of gas or store it with the treated gas in it? Any help anyone can give me will be greatly appreciated.

drain the carbs! For shure much better to prevent problems on jets next season. -
Does running the engine until it stops with the fuel line disconnected drain the carbs or is there something else I need to do?Comment

Read it on wintersize post on top of main page.
Also leave motor stored on vertical position if you can.Comment

Running the motor until it dies does not mean the carb bowls are all empty. The lower carbs will have more fuel left than the upper ones due to what is available in the fuel lines. So you are running some cylinders lean and the carbs will not suck out all of the fuel in the bowlsOriginally posted by Oldjetfisherman#1 View Post
