Battery draining help

Hi: my 08 60hp four stroke would not turn over after 2-3 hours of starting & drifting. I hooked up a spare battery & jumped it. Going back I noticed the tach was pinned at 7 K. I cleaned the connections at home charged the battery and find it drain down in my yard,

I'm thinking it the regulator , but don't know which wires to test for operation.

Check for a short

After trying everything including new battery, discovered a short in my stern light wiring where salt water had gotten in. Disconnect everything and see if it still discharges.
