  • 2001 F80 guage manual

The book that came with boat/motor says that the tach also keeps track of engine hours, but I can't figure out how. All I ended up doing was resetting the trip clock.

Anyone have a copy of the manual that specifically deals with the 2001 digital guages?

Also they don't seem to be back lit for night crusing. I'm sure they must be. Do they take a bulb?

    Thanks for your help.

For back light on your gauge the blue wire must be connected.
You just can reset trip hours not the total hours on the gauge, to switch trip to total just press mode ( not sure if is this what you need)

What is the gauge part #? Its digital right?

      OK I found it ??

I searched GOOGLE and it pointed me right back to this site

      http://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&rct=j&...Am3h424ZQsYo_Q

But when I search the site directly I don't find it. Even If I search F80

The original post was by Fish-R-Man in Outboard Forum titled Yahama F80

      Am I not searching correctly?

Does your tachometer have buttons on the front of it?

Early Yam multifunction tachometers had no buttons and no hour meter.

Later MF tachometers have buttons and an hour meter.

Look at an F80 owner's manual and it will tell you all about the MF tachometer.

Let me help you get started. Page 2-8

          http://www.yamaha-motor.com/assets/s...-04-73_671.pdf

Keep in mind the hours recorded are actually tachometer run hours. Not necessarily engine hours. If someone puts a thousand hours on a motor and then installs a new MF tachometer the hours recorded will be as of the time it was placed into service. It will start with 0 and go up from there.

OK thanks. Turns out I have an older tach no Mode or Reset buttons.
I must have been looking at the Speedo which has the trip clock (the one I reset), but I guess I'm out of luck with re having a total run hours clock.
