  • HELP with tach signal wiring!! PLEASE

I have a Yamaha e75xf which in an enduro model i have swapped all the tilt and trim and 703 control harness over to it and it is all functional, however i do not know where to connect my green tach signal wire from my controls harness to i do beleive it goes to the rectifier?? Can anyone help ?? thanks Jason

coming out of the 703 harness should be a 4 wire bundle, black ,red, green and yellow.
yellow is keu on 12V,black is ground, red is constant 12V and green is tach send.

I know which wires to attatch to on the 703 harness but the enduro motor harness does not have corresponding wires to attatch to. I do see a green wire coming down from what looks like the lighting coil to the rectifier. then a grey wire from the rectifier to the coil packs, I am guessing its one of these two i have to tap into, does anyone know which or for sure where to grab the signal on the enduro harness??

The main engine wire harness has a wire in it for the tachometer signal. That wire leads to the seven or ten pin connector that is attached to the main engine harness.

The main engine seven/ten pin harness connector connects to a connector that is on the seven/ten pin harness that runs from the motor, through the boat, to the key switch or control box in your case. Normally, the tachometer signal would be picked up there and fed to the gauge.

This is the normal Yamaha wire harness arrangement.

Are you trying to indicate that someone has modified the main engine harness and in so doing removed the tachometer reference wire?

I am not familiar with any Yamaha tachometer reference signal coming from the rectifier/regulator.

In the case of Yam two strokes up to 90 HP the tachometer signal comes from the lighting coil. The lighting coil does feed power to the rectifier/regulator however. Check the electrical harness coming from the lighting coil going to the r/r and see if it has a spare female connector to which you could obtain the tachometer reference signal.

My 70hp yami has this 11 pin connector however because this is an endure series motor that did not have tilt or electric start there is no 7 or 11 pin harness to connect to. this motor only has cables and pos neg battery charging cables coming from it. I see a green wire coming from the lightning coil and I do believe that is where the signal comes from, but don't want to fry anything trying this unless someone can tell me for sure. thanks for your help I do greatly appreciate it.

You lost me with the 11 pin connector. Never heard of one on a Yam before.
