  • Fuel Mgmt System Question

I replaced my gauges- engines are T- 1997 Yamaha 200 SWS carb'd. Both tachs, speedo and fuel management gauge. This is a new boat to me and the previous gauges were so sun bleached you couldn't even see if they were working.

After replacing them, they all seem to be working correctly. However, the fuel management gauge does not give a gph reading. When I turn the key to on I get 0.0 gph, then when I start the engine I get is a dash where the gph readout should be. Same thing on either or both engines. Bear in mind this was all done on the trailer and engine run at idle hooked up the ear muffs.

Is there so little fuel flowing that the sending unit isn't picking it up? Also, when I push the set button it does not switch from port to starboard to both P/S. When I go to sync, I get the proper readout.

    Thank you!

Maybe is wiring problems or usully is the fuel flow sensor that gives problems.

    Good luck

Did you remember to connect the senders to the wire harness?

I will double check but I'm pretty certain both engines/senders were connected and all connectors were switched properly.

Everything is connected properly. In the process of checking everything I noticed a couple wires that look good but in fact are pretty brittle. One wire pulled out of the connector of the sender harness.

Guess I'll be ordering a new wiring harness and at least one sending unit.
