    '92 55HP new to me. Tilt question

    I have a 1992 Yamaha 55hp C55ELRQ with 703 controls. I recently bought this motor and am in process of installing it on my boat. The motor is tilted down and I am trying to figure out how to tilt it up. There appears to be what I am assuming is a tilt cylinder, but the controls do not have the up/down tilt button. For now, I would be happy to manually tilt the motor if possible or attach some wires directly to the battery via a homemade switch to get by.
    Also, What type of throttle and shift control cables do I need to order?
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Apply 12 volts to small blue wire on trim relay should trim it up or unscrew the manual release valve and tilt up by hand.
    Can use MAR-CABLE-xx-SC(replace xx with length cable needed) cables, will need two.

          What trim relay? I don't think the C55TLRQ has power trim and tilt functionality. This might explain why you have a seven pin 703 box that does not have a trim and tilt switch.

          The cylinder that you are seeing is a shock absorbing cylinder. There should be a lever on the left hand side of the motor that is activated to reposition the trim angle of the motor.

            Awesome!! Got it!!
            Apparently the previous owner somehow lowered the motor down onto the tilt lever, pinching the lever in between the transom and motor. I'm not too familiar with outboard mechanics, but am finding my way around getting this rig going. That sure was a mean trick hiding that lever back there.

              NEXT QUESTION:
              I keep hearing that I need to order the control cables with the 10-32 threads at each end, and everyone reminds me how to measure for proper cable length, but inside my controls and engine, there appears to be a 1/4" stub where a cable fitting would attach. Do I need cables with a donut shaped fitting on the end, or get some kind of threaded attachments for the 10-32 threaded cables?
