I have a 4.2L 250 HP Yamaha with a Command Link Plus. Even though the Command Link Plus displays a water pressure gauge, the gauge is inoperable and does not include an indicating needle nor any other digital indicator. I am told I need to install a pressure sender to activate that feature. How difficult is it to install and connect the sender? Do I need to take the boat to a dealer or can an amateur install it?

If you can use a torque wrench and have a socket or two, it should be easy. Hardest thing is figuring out where it goes. -

Yes, there is an empty plug just waiting to be plugged in close to there you install the sensor. The kit I got had everything I needed: 69J-8A4L0-00-00 WATER PRESSURE SENSOR KIT, you can buy it at: 2006 and Later 4-stroke Rigging Yamaha Outboard COMMAND LINK ALTERNATE SENSORS 3 Diagram and Parts (or click on the pic of the Yamaha outboard to the left of these messages and support the people that bring you this forum). Please forgive me for my stupidity. After studying the diagrams, I have a few dumb questions, relative to the order in which your instructions are positioned after posting:
Is the "Optional equipment, Installing the isolator lead" an unrelated operation that just happens to be included on the same page?
If so, presumably, the highlighted "Installing of the water pressure sensor", Item #1, half way down the left column, is in reference to the diagram on the upper right side of page. Am I correct?
Is Item #4, the next to the last paragraph on right, in reference to the second from bottom diagram on left, and last paragraph on right, Item #5, in reference to bottom diagram on left?

The optional isolator lead just happens to be on the same page. I knew that I should have erased that section, but didn't. I will do it now.
Yes, start at the part that says Installing the water pressure sensor that is highlighted in yellow.
There are two illustrations posted. Just follow them one thru six and they are in order. I am putting more space between them now.
