  • yamaha 115 crankshaft confusion

Hello, I ran into a problem while rebuilding my 2001 Yamaha 115 (2 stroke). The motor ate up a bearing and ruined the crank. I ordered another crank for it, put the motor back together and found that the flywheel will not fit properly. Apparently yamaha made a large taper crank and a small taper crank for the 115's. The shop I ordered the part from said the book called for a small taper crank for 84-90 and 96-up 115's, so he ordered the small taper. Come to find out...(you guessed it) my motor had a large taper crank (his book is wrong)...
Here is where I need some informational help...I dont want to pull the motor back apart to take the crank back, order a new large taper crank, wait for delivery, re-re-build the motor, etc.

Here is my question...If I replaced the flywheel (with a small taper) would I also have to replace the electronics under the flywheel or are they the same. (the book, that was previously wrong, said they were the same part). Please help, scallop season is in a few days!

Never tried it but need to compare part number of stators and pulsor coils on both engines to see if parts are same.
