  • Finding the age of Yamaha outboards

Hi everyone, this is a great forum and just wanted to see if anyone can help me.
I have just bought a boat with twin v-x 250's. I want to buy the service manual and then be able to start buying parts online and do my own servicing, but need to determine the exact year the engines were made. I have spent the last few hours searching a way to determine the age of non-USA Yamaha outboards without luck.
The engine covers only show 'Yamaha V-X250, 76˚, micro computer ignition system'. The dataplates show the following part and serial numbers:
    Pt No: L250AET, Serial No: 61B X 1000305
    Pt No: 250AET, Serial No: 61A X 1000463

I know the engines are 2 stroke, 3.1Ltr, V6 carburetted engines but thats all.

Please can anyone shed some light on the age of these motors? Or do you have a contact at at Yamaha that may be able to help me.
    Many thanks in advance

from the states I cant help much. we get no information on international market stuff. there is a HUGE difference in the US market stuff from say an sx or s 250 and the VX250.

This is a two year old post. Either the OP got his information or he determined that he did not need it.

He was a one hit wonder. He checked in but has left the building.
