    Yamaha model number tag missing !

    Yamaha 2 stroke, 150 h.p.
    Mid 1990's
    The tag that was located near the transom came off.

    I have the motor dis-assembled, where can i locate numbers on the block to confirm the year it was made?

    If it is original powerhead then serial number may be an aluminum plug on engine block otherwise no way of telling.

      Wasn't there somewhat of a change made after 1995, mainly the inlet design, that would steer him in the right direction?

        I cant believe there isnt something stamped on the block..

        I see no water plugs,,, can we at least narrow it down a bit by the motor cover and decals? I believe its a 1995 or 96.

          There will be a prefix number stamped into block, crank and pistons and you look at part numbers in parts list to match the same prefix on part numbers, that would be as close as you can get.
