I have a 1989 Yamaha ELF (long shaft) which I would like to convert to a short shaft. I plan to pick up the parts along the way, and it seems the most reasonable way to do it is to either buy an engine which is being parted out or just the leg from the powerhead down, whichever becomes available. I have been unable to get a grasp on which models or horsepower will fit my needs, and would appreciate any help in identifying which engines will interchange with my engine. If anyone can help me in this regard, it will be most appreciated.
