  • 2000 250 outboard intermitten temp buzzer parts question

I have a 2000 LX250TXRY outboard. I have a had a problem with the overheat buzzer/rpm limiter going off intermittently at low speeds. In observation of my engine, it continues to run fine, and pumping water good.

However, just recently it has started at higher speeds, but when i shutdown it resets but come back later.

I suspect a defective temp sensor, however, when looking at part diagrams for a replace I see two parts, and looking for some guidance on which one to change.

There is a thermo sensor assembly, and a thermo switch assembly.
Can someone tell me which one I need to order?
Again, I suspect the sensor due to engine running fine until buzzer activates. At least its a good place to start, but want to get right parts.

    thanks in advance

It could still be running hot and peeing water, I would check cooling system first. My neighbor had a very similiar problem, ran hot on idle but not running on plain. we beat our heads against the wall trying everything, pulled the lower found a missing washer that made the difference.... good luck
