I am replacing the starting switch of a 200hp 1986. The cable does no has the plug, I cut the switch plug and connected the cables individually. The motor does not start. Did the yellow and the red cables goes to the 12volts fuse panel together or not.?

I connect the yellow cable to the fuse panel (positive), the red cable to the instruments, the black the the fuse panel (negative), green-green etc.

What I am doing wrong?

red is positive and yellow key on power
