Motor Swap

I will be replacing a 1990 40 HP with power tilt with a 2002 100 HP four stroke. Will the shift cables and control harness work. Can I use the existing tach and temp gauges.

The throttle on 1990 40 is pull to open and the throttle on 2002 100 is pull to open so the control box would have to be modified. If the tach is a multifunction gauge then the trim gauge wont work(40 has 3 wire sender, 100 has 2 wire.)the tach will have changed to 12 pole alternator, the temp gauge will work.
