  • 1984 25hp carb spitting fuel out of passageway

When depressing the bulb to prime, fuel is spitting (more like peeing) out of a small passageway from the carb. Any ideas why this is happening and what purpose this passageway serves? This outboard was winterized 3 years ago with a stabilizer. I would like to make an attempt to get it running again, but having trouble turning it over.

    otbspill,
Sounds like the float in the carb is not cutting off the flow of fuel when the bowl gets full. If it has been in storage for three years, even with fuel stabilizer, the carb probably needs to be torn down and cleaned, new gaskets, etc.
    Good luck,

      Like Ken said ....

Disassemble the carb(s) and give them a good cleaning with Berryman's Chemtool spray (Walmart). Fuel stabilizer ain't gonna save 3 year old gas.

Check the needle valves for wear (the conical end).
Better to replace them (to old – 1984)

Adjust the float chamber, to be horizontally
