  • Tilt lock lever

I just purchased a 2005 25hp Yamaha 2 stroke outboard. I noticed that there doesn't appear to be a tilt lock lever for protection when using it in reverse. Does anyone know why there is no tilt lock lever or does this part have to be purchased separately? I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

The tilt lever is the reverse lock on that engine , it's located on starboard side of engine bracket

Do you mean the shallow water lever? I tried leaving the lever up and down but the engine will still tilt up. However, I haven't tried it with the engine running yet as I have just bought it. Would that make a difference?

Also, would you happen to know if this brand new engine comes with gear oil already or not? Or is that something I will have to do?

      Thanks a lot!

It should lock with that lever if it doesn't it needs to checked out by your dealer. It does come with gear oil and the dealers check it at predelivery
