yamaha prop on merc outboard

Does anyone know which forward thrust washer to use when using a yamaha performance series prop 14.25 x 16p on a 2001 V6 merc outboard? 4.75 in. gearcase. The standard merc washer doesn't let the yamaha prop seat correctly.

Usually you need to match the thrust washer(s) to the prop not the engine.
i.e You are using a Mercury prop so you need the Mercury thrust washer.
I am using a Mercury prop on my yamaha 130hp, hence I use the Mercury thrust washers but the Yamaha castle nut. The only diference on my Yamaha to the Mercury is the thread for the securing nut, hence the use of the Yamaha nut.

Thanks Gary, That makes sense. I'll try the yamaha dealer when I get a chance. It's 1 1/2 hrs. away. Not many run outboards up here. If they do, they are mercs and I'm sure the local dealer wouldn't have the yammie washer.
