How old is my motor?

Morning Team.
I have purchased a second hand Yamaha 4hp 2-stroke, and I want to know how old it is. Does anyone have a guide with Engine numbers or similar? I don't have the engine number with me but I will get it tonight.

Does anyone have a guide with the sticker design over the years that I could check out? I have seen a similar sticker flowchart with Mercury motors in the past.

If you can get the model number off the bracket tag you can go here to decipher the year: http://www.boats.net/cgi-local/listi...rm&stype=motor . You can go to the Yamaha outboard webpage and look up the parts catalog for that motor/year and the upper cowling diagram should have the decal layout on it. Good luck.
