  • Max rpm Yamaha 90 with latest CDI unit?

I have a Yamaha 90 'mod' and I wonder how much I can rev it before the rev limiter sets in? Can it go to 6500 or more?

(It is a bigger bore x2 oversize Yamaha pistons balanced on rods, finger ported, milled engine block, high performance head and exhaust pipe, bored carbs etc) Also installed Livorsi pyrometer kit to monitor the engine.

The rev limiter is activated at 6200 rpm's.

      Thanks, that's what i thought... It runs a Yamaha ProSeries 13 1/2 x 23 and a Winrace Cleaver 14 x 25 right up to 6200... where it cuts.

How do I disconnect the rev limiter?

Some of the CDI had a gray wire that looped back into CDI, cut that wire to disable rev limiter.
