  • 9.9 D 2 storoke 1995 model carburetor

I have a 1995 model 9.9 D 2 stroke Yamaha outboard and its carburetor is broken. Although the original carburetor is 6EY Model (6EY-14301-74-00)
I could only able find a spare part for 1995 9.9 ELHT 6E8 Model (6E8-14301-05-00) from boats.com supplier.

Through my research I reach a view that 9.9 ELHT 6EY Model could be replaced by 9.9 ELHT 6E8 Model but still want to be sure. Thus I need your support/knowledge on this issue. Glad to have your opinion on this issue.
    THANKS

What country are you in? There was no 9.9D model offered here in the USA. The choices offered in the US in 1995 were

    9.9MLHT
    9.9MSHT
    9.9ELHT
    9.9ESHT

All four of these used a 6E7-14301-74-00 carburetor. However, it is no longer available from Yamaha USA. You can find them used https://www.ebay.com/itm/1984-1995-9...-/371951704621

There is no such part number for a carburetor that has a 6EY prefix.

The 6E8-14301-05-00 carburetor was used on the 15 HP model. Will it fit on a 9.9 model? Possibly yes. Will it run well? That is the unknown. There are some minor differences between a 9.9 and the 15. If you change some other parts you may be able to convert your motor to output 15 HP.

I gather the carb is physically broke?

In that cleaning isn't a solution?
