  • FE50 starting issues when cold

Hey Guys just purchased my first ever 4 stroke outboard. A FE50 tiller power tilt and trim. I simply can't say enough about how good this runs. Ok well when I get it started.. If it sits for a week it takes literally about 5 minutes of cranking to get it to start? Is there a choke on this model? If so I have no idea where to find it. I am assuming it is automatic . Maybe there is some thing wrong with it? Can some one give me any idea's where to start..

Need a complete engine serial number.

We are in the US. Yam does not offer an FE50 down here.

        Are you a helavacopter mokanic?

We got another Canuck fixed wing mokanic that hangs out here. Being from Canada, maybe you know him.

A model year too would help.

Is it carberated or fuel injected?

Posting a pic of the power-head (under cowl) would help too.

(All the US F50's, 2006 and up, are fuel injected)

            .

I thought it was a close knit aviation community up there?

Seeing as how you guys all look and talk alike I suppose he would not remember you.

Rodbolt is wondering how folks can catch his thread count. This is how.

                    Thread count or "posts"?

you should have seen the thread count I had on another site.
                      before I got banned.
                      pictures would be great.
the early F50 had a rube- ****- berg choke.
the next was a prime start set up with carbs. the next was EFI.
