I got it back and the second time I went out in it the knocking started again took it back to same mechanic he said gears were broke worse than before he rebuilt it for free.l have had it back now for about one month and yesterday the knocking started again I never hit anything at all none of the times this has happened I don't know where to go from here this is now the third time in less than 3 months any advise Thanks

    Find a certified Yamaha mechanic...

Doesn't sound shimmed properly or missed a bad bearing...

I have no idea what a "certified mokanik" is.
find a dealership that has a master tech.
I can be certified with an online video course.
does not mean I can spell or actually properly repair anything.

look on the wall, minimum drive train cert.
      preferably a master tech cert.

there are not many young master techs.

I bet the shim washer between the reverse gear and clutch
got left out long ago. Seen it happen.

Find a mechanic who knows how to use a dial indicator, micrometer, calipers and such....and put the gear box back together properly as per the manual.

            .
One with lots of certifications on the wall, a genuine Yamaha Hat.

Jesus.... Someone needs to get laid..

But agreed, certs doesn't always mean a MT know's what their doing.

Here's some MASTER TECH work done to my WP, (that I later got to clean up):

            And it ain't grease...

$100 plus an hour for this crappy "work". Cert's mean EVERYTHING..
