    Hello

I am a newbie and know very little about boats so bear with me.
I have yamaha 40 outboard engine with control box. I took the battery off last winter and have gone back to install and now it will not turn over. No clicks nothing. Battery is brand new. One battery cable has a straight line going down the side of the cable (-) the other has nothing on the cable. Is the dash cable positive or negative.

I have tired it both ways so I am figuring there must be something I am missing.
    Thanks

if you hooked it up backwards it instantly blows the fuse.
look at the cable where it attachs to the start relay, if it has a stripe then the striped wire is positive.

Thanks That is probably what has happened. Where can I change that fuse?

about 4" from the cable attachment point on the start relay is a fuse holder, should be a spare fuse as well.
