    Cut that corner out with a cut off tool and weld a replacement corner in there from a junk block. Then refinish by hand the mating surface to the head. Make sure to weld on both sides as one sided welds will fail.

      Pack the holes with JB weld then and reinstall the head with a new or the used gasket to finish out the season...

      I doubt you could hurt your current investment that way and finishing out the season is like taking your beloved, aging dog to the beach and serving her a steak.
      If its got teats or tires, you bound to have trouble with it....
