  • Hooking Up a Fish Finder

    Hey there,

New to the forum. I have a 40 TLRW with a 703 throttle box. I am trying to hook up my new fish finder but need a source of power. I see that out of the throttle box there is a red, black, green and yellow wire set. From my readings online I see that this is for hooking up a tach. I don't really need a tach on my fishing boat. Can I hook up my fish finder to the red (battery) and black (ground) out of the throttle box? Will this give me any issues?

thanks for any and all help.

    Chris.

I see no problems except if you want key on power then hook up to the yellow wire not the red.
Red is 12+ all the time I believe

I'd be a little worried about interference issues. May be easier to just go straight to the battery and install an in line fuse. Fish finders can be finicky.
