  • 2000 9.9 4 stroke low speed jet?

Hello, , I am cleaning the carb on my 2000 9.9 4 stroke.
The low speed jet appears to have a tiny cross hairs in it. Can anyone confirm that this is in fact the case, or is there something in it that refuses to dissolve or move despite prodding with thin wire and using solvents.

    TIA, arby

A jet should be free and clear. As if a drill bit just drilled a hole in it.

Was the jet cleaned in a heated ultrasonic cleaner using a suitable cleaning solution? A piece of soft copper wire can be used to rod the hole to clear it of internal debris.

Thank you--- I am using a piece of wire from a garbage tie wrap.
What is in there is very hard and definitely sounds like metal when the wire hits it. It was hard to believe that they would somehow place this in a very very tiny jet.
Now I will get more aggressive on it.
