  • How much and where does the water flow from the flush port?

    V-4 115 SW series (1997).
Temp alarm went off, although the pee stream was still nice and strong.
Cover off and heads were hot.

Since this was in my driveway and easy enough to do, I figured I would hook up the flush port and cool the engine down this way. The engine head temp didn't seem to change and the pee stream was cool to the touch.

As a test while I was replacing thermostats, I hooked up the flush port. Water started flowing out where it usually does, but with the t-stat covers off and thermostats out, no water flowed up to and out of the ports. Isn't the whole idea of that flush to be able to flush out the complete powerhead with the engine off?

Still with the covers off, I started the engine, within seconds water flowed from those ports (lower was sitting in a barrel of water).
I let it run for a few minutes and the water flowing out of the ports warmed up yet the pee stream stayed the same as the incoming water supply.

    Thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Duane
