  • Oil seal on the lower unit of a 1999 250 yamaha

i was wondering if someone could help. I am replacing the oil seals on the lower unit under the water pump and when i removed the oil ones the top seal had some kind of sealant or form a gasket on it. I could not find this on the manual. Does anyone know what we are supposed to use for this.

Any help would be apreciated. i dont want to put it back together and find out that it requires it to pevent leaks.

    Thanks
    Armando

Not sure if you have a service manual for your motor, but the one for my C40 does not call for anything but water proof grease on the seals and o rings.

Might look for Yamalube Adhesive Yamabond Gasketmaker if you want to put a sealer on the outside of seals . but have no idea if that is a normal thing to do

      no sealant is called for.
however if the housing surface is rough I will use 3m weatherstrip adhesive.
