  • Mikuni Oil Pump Modification

    Rodbolt,

Can the Keihin to Mikuni oil pump modification be done in situ or does the block have to be removed for access?

    Enquiring minds need to know.

    Thanks

pretty much depends on the motor.
best I recall if its a 3 cyl the motor come off.
the V4 V6 can be done in place.
gotta member, back when that motor was new I played on gray boats.

didn't play so much on play boats.

I did do the carbs on the fantail of the capts boat once.

I was an FC and the MM's or the DC's were lost.

Hell, I sat in the Captains chair (out side the bridge) on DE1043. No one was using it so why not. When told to get out of the chair I said I would do so when the Captain showed up.

I was quickly informed to get out of the chair, now. Seemed to be a waste of a good chair.

Oh, the old man was maybe a Lt. Commander. Can't remember now. I can't believe they let a Lt. Cdr. be in charge of a boat.

I was TDY to the boat and had nothing to do. For 43 days. Worst 43 days of my life. Smelled of bunker C and had terrible food. Rolled before we got out of Pearl Harbor.

our capt was actually a commander.
how a commander got to commission a lead ship of its class, I dunno.
        but he was dang good.
        his name was Morgan.
        title capt morgan.
that became the official drink of the boat.
our squadron was the little beavers.
the DDG51 is a good boat and very quick.
