  • Excessive engine noise

2016 F-175 after running motor for an hour or so the engine starts to make a “whirring” noise no matter if it’s in gear or neutral. Have had this issue checked out by 2 different “Yamaha certified shops” & both said they could find nothing wrong. Any ideas?

Mid section bushing on drive shaft needs GREASE.

Yamaha waterproof grease to be exact..

When was the last time the water pump was done?

Don't those bushing usually make a squealing/chirping sound when under-lubricated?......

Mine chirped at lower RPM's but I had grease on the shaft, just not the correct grease.

We don't know what service has been done, or not done at this point to the engine.

I would think a belt tensioner, etc, wouldn't fail this quickly and even if it did, a decent mechanic should be able to find that.

Agreed an audio/video would help a lot but seems the op disappeared..
