A little help with a Yamaha 6hp 2 stroke

If tiller steered there should be a friction lock device. Try moving the lock lever.

Finally had a good run with this outboard the other day.

It would push my 2.60m dinghy to a maximum of 15.4 knts. At that speed it feels like I'm about to take off, so 10knts is more comfortable.

I'm curious to know though what the tilt lock is connected to? I have a lever for the shallow water mode, but nothing to release the tilt lock. Instead I have to pull out the tilt position rod.
