  • 2018 F90 sho trim sender wiring

A friend just bought a new Sho F90 and was looking for where the wiring goes so he can hook up a gauge.
I told him I thought it was a separate harness for the trim.
but he says the 2 wire connector from trim sender plug into a harness not to an open connector.
Anyone have any input on trim wiring for this new F90 Sho
It is on a new Xpress boat and does not have Yamaha gauges if that matters and he wants to add a separate trim gauge for some reason that puzzles me

Should be on the key switch harness.

depends on how the cheapo had it rigged.
if he had spent the money on correct rigging we would not be here.
as it is he now needs to buy the correct harness from the engine to the console.
now it costs more than it did new.
it never ceases to amaze me when folks buy the fineist outboard on the market and rig it with junk then complain.

The wiring is the same as it has been since 2005.

A separate connector in the lower cowling connects to a trim/oil (notice the word trim) harness that runs into the boat and up to the helm. The other end of the trim/oil harness connects to a Yamaha tachometer with an integral trim barscale or a tachometer and separate trim gauge.

If non-Yamaha instruments are used then some cutting and splicing may be needed.

          thanks for that Boscoe,
what does that harness run for oil on a 4 stroke?
and does the pink wire he was chasing change colors in the harness?

he did not order it and have it rigged, it was already set up when he looked at it at the dealer

One wire in the harness for the low oil pressure light/icon

Colours in the harness do not change but they change from the motor to the harness and from the harness to the tachometer

                thanks again Boscoe.
does this show the true wire colors on motor side of connector and tach side too ?

looking at the motor side connector,
is that 2 pink wires with black stripes,
1 pink with with a white stripe
                and 1 solid pink wire

and then the harness would connect up,
                solid pink to solid pink
pink with black stripe to grey
the other pink with black stripe to green
and pink with white stripe to red

                on tach end of harness
                pink to pink
                grey to black
                red to red
and green to white with an X in it
Maybe indicating no wire in that hole)

looks like it shows the pink heading to trim gauge is hooked to the white with and X for some reason.
or is that supose to go to the solid pink in the harness

I do not always trust all of the stuff I see on Yamahas wiring diagrams

this could be why he is having a hard time locating and understanding what he is looking at on the boat itself
but then the pink stays pink all the way correct?

He found the open connector on the motor
with the non Yamaha Tach they installed the trim harness was not installed, so he gets to pull a wire in for the trim,
He said he will run extras. he plans on installing a head temp gauge also
