  • propellor shaft housing for Yamaha F9.9 4-stroke 2 cylinder (+/- 1990)

It seems there are two different propellor shaft housings with the part nt 99999-02226-00 and 99999-02231-00 . Does anybody know what the difference is between those two parts.

I need the right part nr for ordering a new one . In the service manual there are also the part nr. 6G8-45361-01-EK and 6G8-45361-01-EL

    Additional info : It's a Yamaha F9.9 , 4 stroke , 2 cylinder, BE or AE

The only difference between 6G8-45361-01-EK and 6G8-45361-01-EL is the colour of the paint. The difference in the part numbers is that one has EK at the end and the other has EL at the end. Otherwise the numbers are the same.

I doubt that anyone outside of the engineering department within Yamaha in Japan knows the difference between part number 99999-02226-00 and 99999-02231-00. I suspect it has to do with the size of the part.

Why not just order the part that is specified for you motor in the Yamaha parts book?

If you have an F9.9 it looks like 99999-02231-00 is the one for your model.

Now if you have an F/T9.9 or a T9.9 it looks like 99999-02226-00 is what you need.

As Boscoe says, you need to be sure whether you have a high thrust gearbox ie the T or FT version or the the standard ie F version. The lower casings as well as the prop shaft housings have different numbers and much different prices. Presumably the T casing is bigger to allow for the bigger gearwheel. You will also need the seals and the needle bearing. You could just reuse the original housing unless it was mangled during removal, but will need new seals and bearing and will need the correct part numbers to buy those.
