  • Fair deal - Did you know

That the Mercury Mercaha owner's manual uses the Mercury break in procedure for the Mercury branded F225?

Might have been interesting hearing any discussions between Yam and Merc as to what the procedure should have been. Obviously they disagree with each other. Wondering what Yam would have said to Merc if a new motor slung a rod and Merc wanted Yam to replace it.

Well, I bought the "black F90" new -
so would surely have followed the Mercury Owners Manual-

but that was back in 2006 - so have no recollection.

    I avoid reading both "breaking in" and "making oil" threads;
"run it like you stole it" grates on my nerves -
and no interest in what the geriatric "drag racer" posters have to say

Whatever was done during the "break in" -
it has never shown any tendency to "make oil"
and that Mercaha 90 has certainly been "babied" -

    here is the hour record:
    Mercury
    0-1000 320
    1000-2000 211
    2000-3000 53
    3000-4000 164
    4000-5000 12
    5000-6000 0
    total hours 760

Would the 500 hours at or below 2000 rpm be mostly due to the canals around BPK?

around the keys you do not need a big boat
back in the 70s we would head out in a 16 ft trihull with a 65 on it and catch kings here in Tx on good days
