  • 1996 Yamaha 30 HP 2 stroke 2 cylinder

I have a 1996 Yamaha 30HP which needs the "Cam Handle" (part 23 in below drawing) to be replaced. To get the part out, it needs to be push ed inwards to get the tube out but there is not enough room towards the powerhead. Looking at the drawings, there is a part which holds the cam handle in place `(red arrow) and does not look to be part of the bottom cowl (also red arrow in cowl drawing).

So before I bring my outboard to the dealer for them to rip me off, I was wondering if the mentioned parts and cam handle can be removed from the engine without lifting the powerhead?

Model # and are you located in the US?

I can't find anything resembling your second pic on boats net. Do you have a link?

      2 cylinder 30 HP would be a CV30 model.

Or a C30. Both are two cylinder 30 HP models.

The control section depicts his configuration. https://www.boats.net/catalog/yamaha...30elrv/control

            Thanks, ^^

I suspect you could loosen the lower cowling, part # 1: https://www.boats.net/catalog/yamaha...bottom-cowling
and move it over a tad to gain the room you need. Just guessing at this point..

Thanks for the reply guys. I'm in Europe indeed. Will have a look if the cowling can be moved down.
