hard to say for sure what he means by his statement about not staying lined up afer shifting, could be the outer sheath is moving when it should be held tight when moving the inner cable

Figured it out. The arm was tweaked a little and the contact it made with the slider wasn't consistent. All is good now. Thanks for the help.

and remember, the shift cut wont work unless the prop has a load and then only when coming out of gear. the shift position works in any gear and tells the ECU whether it is in a gear or not. a few yamahas actually had two position switchs so the ECU knew which gear.
