  • Y-COP part & install Questions

    Hello!

I have a new yamaha F250XCA outboard that came with my boat. It has a digital control panel on the dash as well (commandlink?).

Anyway, I am interested in adding Y-cop (anti-theft system). I've searched the forum and it appears this is something I can do myself. However, there are a handful of part numbers for the kit (ie.Y-6Y8-W0035-83-00). All the part numbers are the same except for the "83" which I have seen as low as 80 and has high as 87. However, it is not clear which is correct for my motor. Are they universal and the only difference is a revision or update of sorts or?

Also - is this something I can in fact do myself (highly technical and mechanically inclined) without dealer programming etc?

See page 4-6. Yes, you should be able to do it yourself.

The -87 is just the latest configuration. Order the -87 or any previous dash numbers and you will get the -87.

boscoe99 - Thanks!! My only question at this time (pardon my ignorance) is that page 4-6 says the YCOP is compatible with "V6 OFFSHORE F300, F250, F225 MODELS".

Is my F250XCA considered "OFFSHORE"? I don't think there is a "Non-Offshore" F250 so I don't know why they even mention it.

Yes, an F250XCA is considered an "Offshore" model. An older model F250TXR is an example of a "non-Offshore" model.
