  • T50TLRC lower unit spanner nut removal

    Hey,
Want to rebuild lower unit, and am trying to remove nut behind prop.
Seems real frozen, any tricks to getting loose?

Use the correct removal tool. Longer and bigger breaker bar if necessary. Maybe a bit of heat applied to the lower unit casing where the nut threads in.

If it will not come loose , then drill some smaller holes 180* apart through the nut and then chisel it out being careful not to mess up the threads.
Then just buy a new nut

and if it is frozen at all, this is the best option,, works real well,,,

have a service manual on the way, but lol
so do you use a slide hammer to pull the carrier/ bearing housing out ?

              easiest way?
use an adapter on the propshaft to fit your slide hammer.
remove the shift shaft FIRST then remove the propshaft and carrier.
if you try a slide hammer on the carrier alone you will most likely break it.
