  • Lower Unit Leak

I have been trying to fix a leak in the lower unit for a 1994 150 HP. Water has been contaminationg the oil.
I replaced the seals and O-ring at the input shaft and I also replaced the prop shaft seals. I installed the seals per the manual.

A pressure test indicates the prop shaft seals are leaking.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

Did you replace the shift rod seal? Spray some soapy water on the seal while it is under pressure to find out if it is leaking. Odds are iT is leaking.

It's leaking at the prop shaft.

In that case, all i can imagine is that the prop shaft has a groove worn into it from the previous seals. That's not very likely though. Are you sure you got the seals seated properly?
