  • choke on 94 Yamaha 90 hp?

I recently purchased a boat with a 94 model yamaha 90 hp motor on it. On other motors I have had, if you wanted to choke the engine you pushed the key in as you were starting it. This motor does not seem to have this option. My question is : Does this model engine have a choke for starting? Engine runs great once started but is a very cold start. Thanks for any help you may have on this.

that engine is equipped with prime start.
its very sensitive to correct throttle plate sync.
its designed for turn key starting no warmup lever to mess with.
no the push to choke switch has no function on that engine.

        correct starting procedure.
        prime carbs with bulb.
        crank engine.
DO NOT use any warm up lever or throttle advance.

On my 90C Yamaha I pump primer until hard, install emergency cut-off clip, gear shift in neutral position, turn starter for about 3 or 4 seconds, let off on it a couple of seconds, then when I turn the starter it'll start right up....guess it has it's own little procedure that it likes!....maybe try and make some minor adjustments in your procedure until you find that "just right combination"....Good Luck!
