  • Yamaha leaking oil out of power trim

How hard is it to replace the seals at the bottom of a Yamaha SX 150 2002. Someone quoted me $1000.00 to repair it. He said it was the "manifold" and the engine had to be lifted to get it off?

that unit can be removed without engine removal.
manifold leakage is not that uncommon with the showa unit,OMC used the same unit.
if the manifold surface is not warped its 6 orings and your done.

      Trim unit removal

Just removed my from sx250txrz. I took about one hour and that's after I figured out that the trim cylinder must be retracted for the whole unit to come out. Leave the whole thing to soak in WD40 for a couple of days.
      Good luck

did you lock the engine in the up position to get it off? the oil leaked out of the reservoir so I'll have to somehow get the engine up so i can get at the main piston to disconnect it from the engine.
