Winterizing a 250 4 stroke

Instead of pulling the spark plugs and spraying fogging oil into each cylinder. Is it sufficient while replacing the gas/water separator mounted on the engine to fill the cup with fogging oil and gas preservative and run the engine for several minutes and not pull the plugs? When I had the engine serviced by the dealer, that is how the service tech said they did fogged their four strokes.

The recondmended way is to put oil in spark plug hole but it's your choice.
