If you have an air compressor, close off all ends of the bad tank/filler, etc.

**If the pick up tube removes from the tank, pull it and do it on the bench.

If not, slightly pressurize the tank (blower tip and maybe a rag for a seal) (10-15 PSI).

Squirt a soapy solution or Windex over all piping, tubing, etc looking for bubbles. Bubble = crack/leak

Sounds like a hairline crack getting larger with time..
